A Lone Daisy

Now a days, it does not happen very often that hubby let me have one of his paintings. Mostly he gives away all his paintings. He thinks that I have not left any wall around the home to put up any more paintings. But he grossly under estimates my ability to see spaces/ make spaces :)

When he painted this acrylic of Lone daisy, I gingerly asked if I can have it for home. I was pleasantly surprised when he nodded enthusiastically! This wall was our picture wall, all the pictures were moved  & the lone Daisy graces our dining area now!
Lone Daisy!

That's our family snaps (err minus littlest one) - old & new in black & white

Well, in case you are wondering about blank FabIndia frame, it was meant for littlest one's photo, which remained like that for some time now!

Have Good week ahead guys!

A Bucket Full of Flowers

Would you not feel blessed, if you wake to bucket full of colourful fresh roses on Sunday morning? Yes I certainly did.

Before you start gushing over hubby's loving, caring gesture, let me stop you there..!  No, it was not hubby who made me feel blessed this weekend. It was my house hold help & littlest ones best frenemy- Divya Mary!

She visited the KR market early in the morning. Knowing my love for the flowers, she brought a bucket full of them for us! It was very beautiful to wake up to such beauties!

As I do not have much of vases at home, all the dabbas, pickle jars, milk mugs, bottles around the house were brought out.  Spent good part of next one hour cutting the stems and arranging them & placing them all over the home. Hope they will last for a week at least!

Thank you Divya for such a wonderful gesture!

Stillness

I hear the littlest, in deep slumber, breathing rhythmically. I watch her sweet, heart shaped face, I wait for the big brother to come in from school and loudly announce his arrival and wake his sister up.

There is stillness, serenity around me. It may last for next 10 minutes or so, so I grab these moments of stillness in the photos..

Have a good weekend guys!

This Way Please..!

Too much of action, too many thoughts, children related activity, EO's pirate themed 8th birthday party kept me busy. Though not in the same order! But never the less it was a very active period, which kept me happy as well!

Have been dreaming and drooling about more plants & more flower at home. Please, please suggest easy-to-maintain flowering plants for north facing balcony. We have always had foliage in our balconies as we do not get direct sun rays. But it is bright through the day.

It would be 10 years, this year, since we moved into this home. But even today ,corners keep changing, new lamps, new plants keeps coming in and the existing ones keep moving around the home!  It was, is & will always be work in progress - our home!

Today I would like to welcome to our haven. Come in this way please! As all other nooks & places of our home, our entrance has changed its look many times, this is how it looks as of now..!

The Dashavatara was plain one, hubby painted to bring out the form..!

The Rajastani elephant on old post card was Rs 10 Buy from Jaipur roads & framed for another Rs100!

Guruvaayoorappan painting by hubby, is what you see as you enter the home. It is considered auspicious in Malayali household
All bottles bought in Chor Bazaar Mumbai, comes together here..!

Do let me know your comments! See you soon!

Red Room - Re-Done..!

We had been thinking of changing the cot in our red room for long time now.  The old cot held a lot of memories as it was the first piece of furniture I bought, when I had my first very own (rented!) bachelorette pad. But things changing over years, with grand-parents crazy babies coming into pictures, things changed! When grandparents are visiting, babies like to sleep with them & they occupy 3 fourth of the limited space. Grandparents hang on to the few inches in the edge of bed to save themselves from a nasty fall :). So we wanted a larger bed that could accommodate babies and the grandparents without risking couple of bones!

As usual, we did not want to buy a new cot, instead we wanted an antique, old cot on a limited budget (usual again!). Doing rounds of antique shops & hearing shocking prices, we went back again to Mr Ramachandran of Curiocity. A wonderful place, I plan to blog about them in coming weeks. Within 4 weeks he delivered this beauty in teak! the wood is more than 80 years old!

To accommodate the new bigger cot in the room, we had to do little tweaking in. move a few furniture around, This is how the room looks now after re-doing

What do you think do, let me know!

Have a great week ahead guys!

Celebrating Life - Desk Calendar by Lakshmi Arvind

Last year around December, when Lakshmi of Celebration Décor and Lakshmi Arvind Photography  posted about her intentions to create 2014 calendar with her beautiful-beyond-words images, I was super thrilled.  I was all excited to see her FB page updates about  the way calendar was shaping.

Lovingly packed calendar arrived with a hand written letter from Lakshmi
Today evening, lovingly packed calendar arrived with a hand written letter from Lakshmi. I was super excited to know that my parcel has arrived. I was impatient to tear it open & see the calendar ( that's is so much like me !) But her letter & the parcel itself made me linger in that moment before I moved to open the calendar...

Once I opened the parcel completely I could not help but look & re-look at her beautiful captures on the desk calendar. Here is photo story of my excitement through the evening!

The final place- Near the study nook!

They are limited version on sale. Go ahead and have one of them grace your home, write to her at dr.lakshmi@live.in
